About

Dr. Marcia F. Robinson is a Pennsylvania based professional. At her core, she is about supporting people and human capital projects that serve to expand potential of individuals and organizations. My guiding principles are embodied in these 3 simple commitments:

1. I am committed to inclusion.
2. I am committed to continuous learning.
3. I am committed to personal and organizational sustainability through learning and inclusion.

“Marcia has an innate talent for relationship building in all she does. She is one of those truly rare people that can see the 30,000 foot view and instantly get how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. She is the person who would have thought of the best solution when many would still have not identified the root of problem. Here is a person you definitely want on your team.”

"It's not about what you want to BE when you grow up; it's about what you want to DO with your life"

I have been listening to HR organizational and workplace buzz around water coolers for almost two decades! My newest obsession is researching, consulting, training and writing about workplace automation and the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (Ai) as the next big thing in HR and the workplace in general. I am particularly interested in how, as a society, we are maneuvering collectively in inclusive ways through disruptive technology and economic landscapes. I believe inclusivity is key as we envision, redesign and build organizations around the future of work, workers and workplaces.

I write about the conversations we are having through the frameworks of personal attitudes, organizational change experiences, social and environmental influences and the relative advantage or (potential lack of it) of the technology itself (The P.O.S.T. Framework). In addition to the perspectives of HR practitioners, as a Workforce Evolutionist, I spend a lot of time thinking about how the use of artificial intelligence through what I call Algorithm-Based-Hiring (ABH), will impact job applicants and workers, particularly those groups often historically disenfranchised through workplace changes.

As a passionate advocate for workplace diversity, inclusion and connecting people with meaningful opportunities, I am also the founder and curator of The HBCU Career Center, to support career and professional development in the broad community of students, graduates, staff and supporters of America's 106 institutions designated as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). I am an advisor to organizations that want to build inclusive workplaces and engage diverse talent.

Don't be surprised if in my blog (Fly-on-the-Wall-HR), I take you inside some of the conversations (sometimes uncomfortable) we are having in HR and I talk about societal politics, workplace chaos, organizational happiness and employee experiences in general. By the way, I am a firm believer that we can’t keep societal politics out of the workplace because if we care about people, we care about what impacts and occupies them as humans. Topics like workplace automation, diversity and inclusion or career expectations are evidence of that. When I am not doing this work I am probably tending a garden somewhere.
